Comfycush models are similar to the originals in a few ways, but with a more comfortable. I'm $5 short from affording my new pair of shoes I have a high instep as well and adjust the laces accordingly

The main difference is the thickness of the fabric Vans tend to be more padded and have generally more overlapped layers while converse are still pretty much a couple layers of canvas with a padded rim sometimes I think both shoes are great and wear both they wear similarly (vans tend to feel a little more snug).
