The cut features tool allows you to perform discard clip, preserve clip, or split operations based on the feature classes you have selected within your data frame. Choose split in the operation area. Later versions of arcgis may contain different functionality, as well as different names and locations for menus, commands and geoprocessing tools
Instructions provided describe how to cut polygon features along the boundary of existing polygons. All features that intersect, contain, or are contained within the selected cut features are included in the list in the target area Target features will be divided into multiple features at any point where they intersect the source features
Click the input features tab, click the select tool, and select the input cutting features Click the target features tab, click the select tool, and select the target features to be split. The split tool splits a visible feature into two or more features where you click it, or where a sketched line or the boundary of another feature crosses it This tool is available in the modify features pane.
And it removes that part of your polygon. On the create tab on the manage features window, select the feature class to which the selected features are going to be pasted/moved Click the production cut and paste button on the production editing advanced toolbar. To split a polygon, use the cut polygons tool, then draw a line across the polygon
