Has a (nother) norton application or a mcafee application ever been installed on this computer If so, that is the usual cause of slow windows, download the removal tool the developers of that security suite provide and uninstall it form your pc, then restart your pc and let windows security protect you Anti virus is also shut off now, but i do not believe this to be malware/adware/viral
