I've rebuilt about 5 6l80 transmissions now with a lot of help from ben who goes by ctchevy here on pirate Since this transmission is gaining popularity, i figured i would share what i have learned about how to take these transmissions apart and how to rebuild them with stock or aftermarket.
Are the bell housings interchangeable as well Brettm makes a shift control unit for the aw4 and i'm certainly not opposed to bolting. Reverse cut gears are used on some front axles Standard cut gears in a front differential will be driven on the coast side when you are going forward
Reverse cut gears in a front diff will be driven on the drive side when going forward which is a stronger setup So standard cut gears are stronger in the rear and reverse cut are stronger in the front The only reasons that they use standard. I found a couple threads about remanufactured engines and 1 or 2 about transmissions, but nothing that really holds any clout
